Members of the Everest Recovery Team attended Governor Janet Mills 5th Annual Opioid Response Summit on 7/20/2023 at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, ME. We’re proud to be part of a Maine Community with so many individuals and organizations that are dedicated to saving lives and fighting the Opioid Epidemic. This year’s Summit theme was “The Power of Prevention, Focus on Families”. Powerful “Voices of Recovery” spoke at the event which was well attended by over 1000 people. Governor Mills spoke at length about Maine’s strategic action plan in response to the Opioid Epidemic including efforts to distribute $1 million worth of Xylazine test strips. Xylazine is a veterinary sedative that is often combined with Fentanyl and other drugs to increase potency. It has heavily contributed to rising fatal overdoses in Maine. Members of the Recovery Community attended several breakout sessions that were conducted during the event.
